I stand corrected. In my defense, it was before I was born :pbn13814 wrote: ↑Sun Jun 21, 2020 1:26 amPabst Brewing Co. had two plants in Peoria itself: Plant No. 2, the malt house located at the Ft. of MacArthur Highway (between the Cedar Street Bridge and Hiram Walker & Sons. It closed in July 1980. Plant No. 4 on Wayne Street included a corn mill ("grist mill"), which produced corn grits for company breweries, and an industrial products division which was renamed "PMP Fermentation Products" in 1982. That portion is still in operation, and much expanded, under different management. The corn mill closed at the end of 1984.Pock wrote: ↑Sat Jun 20, 2020 8:32 pmPeoria Heights, not Peoria and we never recovered from that.DennisinMH wrote: ↑Sat Jun 20, 2020 8:25 pm Ugh, to me, Pabst and coffee don't mix. After Pabst closed in Peoria, I switched to Budweiser. If I tasted a Pabst after that, it tasted too much like butter. But that's me.

My husband said that about 8 years ago Pabst distributors had told Peoria-area bar owners that the Pabst company wanted to make Pabst beer the #1 beer drank in the Peoria area again. They should have thought about that before they left Peoria Heights.
