My husband bought a can of Pabst coffee beverage somewhere here in Peoria this week and said it was really good.

Ugh, to me, Pabst and coffee don't mix. After Pabst closed in Peoria, I switched to Budweiser. If I tasted a Pabst after that, it tasted too much like butter. But that's me.
F**k these insane trackers, this place is not a healthy debate of issues anymore, just a bunch of folks trying to outdo one another. Where is the cancel account button?

Peoria Heights, not Peoria and we never recovered from that.

Like a porter or stout that has a slight coffee flavor to it. But I will leave my Folgers in my mug.

My great uncle, Ray Behrends, was in low level management at Pabst’s in Peoria Heights. When they shut down here, they sent Uncle Ray and his family down to the Pabst plant in Perry, GA and he was a high level Manager there. He died in his mid 50’s.

Pabst Brewing Co. had two plants in Peoria itself: Plant No. 2, the malt house located at the Ft. of MacArthur Highway (between the Cedar Street Bridge and Hiram Walker & Sons. It closed in July 1980. Plant No. 4 on Wayne Street included a corn mill ("grist mill"), which produced corn grits for company breweries, and an industrial products division which was renamed "PMP Fermentation Products" in 1982. That portion is still in operation, and much expanded, under different management. The corn mill closed at the end of 1984.

Wow. Thanks for that info. I had no idea there was at least one process still taking place in Peoria.
