Today until 6, and tomorrow 11-6 at the Schnucks on University. Fundraiser for Komen Center for Breast cancer research. $5 for a brat, chips and soda. Or 2 brats for $8.

Demetrios Sanders and I shot a story out there, and they gave me a free brat. (He was offered one too, but declined) I would have paid for it, so I may return tomorrow and buy 2!

Does anybody else find it ironic when organizations raising money for cancer research sell food and drink that are known to promote cancer growth?

Good point. How could someone accept free food from a not for profit organization?

I commended someone! What could be more positive than that?

One of the unintentional perks of media. Folks sponsoring events a lot of times give media free bottles of water/soda or food in appreciation of media coming out to do a story on their event.

I've also gotten a free pork chop from an athletic director at a high school football game when we did a Live weather/sports at their field. Otherwise, I've bought my own popcorn or soda before heading back to the station.

At college basketball games, free popcorn, soda, or more can be had for the media under the concourse at any arena.

Had I done this in my last career, it would have been an immediate referral to Internal Affairs. God help me if I had bragged about it on the internet. Probably get a few days of unpaid vacay for that.
