Unemployment/Debit Card Scam Alert from the Peoria County Sheriff's Office. The Peoria County Sh+eriff's Office would like to alert residents of an Unemployment/Debit Card Scam that has recently popped up in our area. Citizens have been receiving debit cards in the mail that appear to be from the Illinois Department of Employment Security (IDES), but the card/unemployment claim was not applied for by the recipient.

If you or a loved one receive one of these fraudulent debit cards in the mail and you did not apply for it, please:
⚠️ Do NOT activate the card or contact KeyBank.
⚠️ Contact IDES at 800-814-0513 or report the incident online using the "Report Fraud and Identity Theft" link on their website: https://bit.ly/3dQKcur.
⚠️ Run a free credit check to ensure your identity has not been stolen. Free credit checks are available using the following websites: Equifax, Transunion, and Experian.
⚠️ Destroy/cut up the card and throw it in the trash.

For additional information, visit the IDES website at https://bit.ly/3dQKcur or contact the PCSO Victim Services Coordinator, Aimee Shinall, at 309-697-7855.
