Here is Facebook post from PPD.
The Peoria Police Department is committed to keeping our citizens and communities safe from violence. As promised, we are going to do everything in our power to make sure our neighbors have a force they can depend on. That's why we're coming to your neighborhood.

We're knocking on doors to let our citizens know we're here for them.
Peoria Police Chief, Eric Echevarria says, this is just the beginning of forming a positive relationship between the citizens of Peoria and the Police Department.

The police chief along with other dedicated officers will be conducting neighborhood "Walk and Talks" every Tuesday and Thursday beginning this Tuesday, September 28, 2021 at 4pm at Taft Homes located at 82 NE Adams Street, Peoria, Illinois 61603.

During the neighborhood walk and talks, officers will be passing out flyers listing many resources available to them should they need help with food, shelter, childcare, employment and crime.
Below, you'll find a list of other areas our dedicated officers will be visiting to speak one on one with the residents.

Sounds like a step in the right direction. I hope it produces the desired results.
