F**k these insane trackers, this place is not a healthy debate of issues anymore, just a bunch of folks trying to outdo one another. Where is the cancel account button?
Should we revisit this statement in 5 or 10 years?DennisinMH wrote: ↑Fri May 14, 2021 6:38 am That you won't see a mugshot of or be a statistic of a crime.

Why wait 5-10 years? I wonder how we can research students who graduated 5-10 years ago from ELITE, and how they're doing.Tazewell wrote: ↑Fri May 14, 2021 7:53 amShould we revisit this statement in 5 or 10 years?DennisinMH wrote: ↑Fri May 14, 2021 6:38 am That you won't see a mugshot of or be a statistic of a crime.

I had never heard of ELITE until recently, so I did not know it had been around for more than 5 years. If it has, you should be able to prove your statement that completing the program means that the graduate will not have "a mugshot of or be a statistic of a crime".DennisinMH wrote: ↑Fri May 14, 2021 8:46 am Why wait 5-10 years? Cannon is a good dude. He’s working with kids who face extreme hardship in most cases so I give him nothing but respect. There are bound to be failures along the way but I saw more than a few success stories come out of his program, young adults who otherwise were facing a decade or more in a federal prison.
It was not my intention to denigrate Carl Cannon or the ELITE Program. What I was questioning was the OP stating that simply graduating from this program was a guarantee that these 40 people would not be a criminal or a "statistic of a crime" in the future. It takes way more than finishing a program like this to make that statement true. Things like distancing themselves from African American Hip Hop culture for starters.
Wow!!! He was congratulating those students for trying to better their lives.
Telling them to change their lifestyle is very arrogant and racist.

People don't care how much you know.
They want to know how much you care.

Carl Cannon is a wonderful gentleman. I’ve known him for many years. He has involved me in many Peoria-area events over the years that benefitted many great causes.
You only live once, so, live it with gusto!
According to most of the posting on here, just graduating Peoria HS is statistical feat my man. We get your continuous racism narrative, don't try to backpedal it dude.Tazewell wrote: ↑Fri May 14, 2021 10:02 am It was not my intention to denigrate Carl Cannon or the ELITE Program.
