PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD) — Peoria Police responded to a jewelry store robbery at Northwoods Mall Friday afternoon, Feb. 26.

According to Peoria Police Public Information Officer Amy Dotson, two individuals used sledgehammers to break into glass cases at Kay Jewelers before fleeing in a vehicle waiting outside being driven by a third suspect.

Officers found the vehicle fleeing eastbound on I-74. The vehicle was eventually stopped on IL Route-116 and Blackjack Boulevard, where two suspects fled on foot towards a wooded area.

The report indicates all three individuals were detained and transported to the Peoria Police Departments Criminal Investigations Division for interview purposes.

Multiple other agencies responded to assist. No injuries were reported in relation to this incident.

Maybe I am just not seeing it, but it seems to me that mug shots are never posted in news stories anymore in situations like this. Is that practice now considered racist?

Were they underage? I thought minors were protected from public disclosure until found guilty.

Three people arrested for 'smash and grab' at Northwoods Mall are all from Michigan. Peoria Police say Terrion G. Johnson (19), Jabreez L. Thompkins (21), and Christopher K. Smith (26) were arrested for Business Burglary.

Didn't see that in the original post. I believe they've also long stopped posting pictures of Johns. Might be why the PJ Star's readership is down?

I can’t find the update right now, but all three that were apprehended were from Michigan. I’d like to know if any had prior arrests. I’d also like to know why they traveled this far to commit their crimes.

Maybe the PJS, in it's continuing efforts to save money for their subscribers (er, I mean stockholders), just don't have the staff to print or post photos the day after the crime. Or the police department hadn't released them yet.

I can guarantee, mug shots will show up on WMBD News, if not today, then tomorrow.

I don't know whether to call it guts or stupidity to try to rob a jewelry store in a mall while it's open.
F**k these insane trackers, this place is not a healthy debate of issues anymore, just a bunch of folks trying to outdo one another. Where is the cancel account button?

Well, it can't be the fault of TV news, as WEEK doesn't even have the story on their website anymore. Perhaps the Sheriff's office hasn't released them?

WMBD did show mugshots of other suspects accused of murder or shootings this morning.

But you made a guarantee. They say a man is only as good as his word.
