The Journal Star has implemented a real paywall: one you can't bypass with incognito mode (Chrome) or private browsing (Firefox). I stopped subscribing years ago for a couple of reasons--one being that they weren't providing any real content, but another being that they give it all away for free online. Why subscribe to something they're giving away for free? This is a step in the right direction. Make people pay for the content--it requires the paper to provide content that people care about and want to pay for, and it rewards subscribers by giving them content that isn't available for free elsewhere.
Journal Star puts in a real paywall
If I didn't care for what a media outlet has to say i sure wouldn't spend 10 seconds figuring out how to get that information.
More and more laughter medicine.

People don't care how much you know.
They want to know how much you care.
They want to know how much you care.
Some people do things out of a curiosity to see if it can be done. Others are content to sit in the basement and scarf down cheeseballs.

I never have cared for cheese balls myself. But you can eat as many as you like in your basement. Curiosity, that is probably what got Trump involved in politics. He was curious, and when he found out how tough it really was, he just gave up on the work part, but not the title.

Sorry to say this, but I think that is an overly optimistic view. I think there will be few subscribers because past decisions have made the present-day PJStar a sad joke.cjsummers wrote: ↑Tue Jan 26, 2021 9:43 am https://www.pjstar.com/story/news/colum ... 665184002/

Having said that, I’d gladly pay for a subscription to an on-line LOCAL newspaper that would provide the kind of quality coverage that the old Peoria Chronicle did.
Yep, I’d pay for a paper that presented factual news with pro/con type information obtained from all sides. I will not pay for the biased opinions of the left/right masquerading as news. That holds for both right and left.

Today’s paper had a “subscriber’s only” article about the expansion of Dac’s Smokehouse. I’m sure it’s a great article. I’m not a subscriber, so I can’t read it. However, this news broke over a week ago on (free tv channel) WMBD.
Tell me again why I should pay to see this content.
