Hip Hop culture, Fatherless homes. Lack of Christian, or at least moral, upbringing. Poor city leadership.
Is that code for thug life?
It's code for Hip Hop culture.

Could you show me where I said that?

The leadership has been a problem for years, it just got a lot worse when an SJW took over.

Really, the poor leadership, "tax and spend", social justice warrior Mayor Ali just delivered the opposite.

How will defunding the Peoria Fire and Police Pension obligations help slow the skyrocketing murder rate?

So courageous to be one of 9 votes to not extend a tax that was set to end this year anyway. They'll just get the money from some other source instead of making real cuts to non-essential "services".

Ways to slow the incidents of violence:

Parents must find ways to take more control of what their youth are doing, especially if they're under 18. As a parent, they should have the right to check what social media posts their children are looking at and posting to. Parents should be alarmed if they see pics of their children flashing gang signs, hold guns, etc.
Get their children more involved with more positive activities outside of school. Now, how do we get parents to do those things? That's the tricky part.

Those who have adult children 18 and over, just keep encouraging good attitudes, behavior, and have them be very careful with social media.

And, as Police Chief Echeveria said yesterday, gun owners need to be more diligent in making sure their firearms are locked up, cars are locked.

Now homicide number is at 32.

BUT the latest one is NOT due to gun violence.

Still very sad, as another baby dies at the hand of an abuser. Prayers of comfort to the baby boy's mother and family.

The death of a 2-month-old boy, who was hospitalized almost two weeks, is being investigated as a homicide, authorities said.

A suspect is in the process of being charged with the crime. So far this year, 32 homicides have been recorded in Peoria.

Conner Yeo was pronounced dead shortly before midnight Tuesday at OSF HealthCare Saint Francis Medical Center, according to Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood.

The baby had been at St. Francis since Nov. 12. About 8:45 that morning, public-safety personnel were summoned to a residence at Timberlane Apartments, in the 5900 block of North Cypress Drive in Northwest Peoria.

Rescuers found Conner unresponsive and not breathing, according to Harwood. The baby was resuscitated and underwent aggressive medical treatment but was unable to recover from his injuries.

An autopsy performed Thursday indicated someone inflicted severe blunt-force head trauma on Conner, according to Harwood.

Zachary Yeo, 23, was arrested earlier in connection with this case, on accusations of aggravated battery to a child and aggravated domestic battery.

The Peoria Police Department is working with the Peoria County State's Attorney's Office on additional charges against Yeo, according to police spokeswoman Semone Roth. She would not confirm Yeo's possible relationship to the victim.

An investigation was continuing.

Already at number 4 for 2022 it looks like. It's been a lot of women and kids this year. Very sad, especially compared to gangbangers who probably had it coming.

Hopefully this will be the last homicide this year, but if not, the city is on pace for 37 in 2022.
