(PEORIA, IL) Sunday, September 15, 2024, at approximately 2:16 p.m. Peoria Police were dispatched to the 2200 block of N. Flora on a welfare check.
When officers arrived at the above location, they knocked on the door and did not receive an answer.
While checking the windows from the outside of the residence police observed an adult female down inside a bedroom.
Members of the Peoria Fire Department responded and forced entry into the residence. Officers entered and discovered a deceased female (49 years old) with an apparent gunshot wound.
Police also located a deceased male (47 years old) lying near the female with an apparent gunshot wound.
The identity of the male and female and the causes of death will be released by the Peoria County Coroner.
Members of the Peoria Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division (CID), Crime Scene Unit (CSU), and Patrol Unit responded to the scene and initiated an investigation.
This incident remains under investigation.

Peoria’s latest homicide is especially gut wrenching.
A 1-month-old baby boy was left to die in a hot vehicle, while the mother was high on cocaine:
UPDATE (3:30 p.m.) — When police arrived on North Peoria Avenue and saw a dead baby lying on a grassy lawn, they noticed the mother was acting “erratically” and could have been under the influence of “some sort of substance.”
And she tried to drive away with her baby but was blocked by family members just before 7 p.m. Monday. They were able to block her U-Haul pickup and grab Grayson, who was one month old and likely had been dead for a while.
Some of the swabs taken at the scene tested positive for cocaine, a Peoria County prosecutor said in open court.
And almost prophetically, police found a text message from her father to her imploring her to leave the baby with them. The text message said, “You know that baby can overheat and die, please let us help you, from dad to mom.”

PEORIA (25News Now) - A 36-year-old man is dead after a late Wednesday shooting in Peoria, and authorities are investigating his death as a homicide.
Peoria Police said just before midnight, officers found the man in the roadway at the intersection of West John Gwynn Jr. Avenue and North Merriman Court after responding to a ShotSpotter alert in the area. Officers said he had a gunshot wound.
The man was taken to a local hospital, where he later died. His identity and cause of death are expected to be released at a later date.
The homicide investigation is underway.

The coroner confirmed the boy’s death after he was pronounced dead at 8:01 p.m. in the OSF HealthCare Saint Francis Medical Center trauma room.
According to Semone Roth of the Peoria Police Department, the child was shot just before 7:40 p.m. in parking lot of the Cityscape apartment complex. Officers were called to the area after an alert from the ShotSpotter gunfire detection system indicated two rounds had been fired.
When they arrived, they found a boy who had been shot. He was rushed to an area hospital where he died, Roth said.
There have been no arrests, she added. She added the shooting is being investigated at the city’s 17th homicide of the year.

I agree, any homicide is very sad. Let's hope the community will step up and provide information to bring the suspects into custody, on those cases still being investigated.

Officers were called to the area on a report of four people breaking into cars. While driving there, they heard shots had been fired, according to police.
When they arrived, they found the man with gunshot wounds, according to police. He was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
Peoria County Corner Jamie Harwood confirmed that his office was conducting an autopsy on a man in his early 20s. The man’s identity would likely be released later Monday. He did not give any details, however, on what happened.

Officers were called to the 300 block of East Arcadia Avenue just before 7:50 p.m. for the shooting, said Semone Roth of the Peoria Police Department.
She said they found a man with a gunshot wound inside a home. The age of the victim has not been released at this time.
He was brought to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Officers are continuing to investigate and there is still a heavy police presence in the area. No suspect information has been released.
More information on the victim is expected to be released by the Peoria County Coroner.
