Mine went up $24, not sure what category increased. Wife and I are considering moving to a cheaper school district if we decide to stay in Illinois. We have friends with a comparable house on acreage who pay about 20% of what we pay.
Let’s not turn this into a political thread about staying vs leaving Illinois. Please.

School District is probably the number 1, or a close number 2 selling point of a home.AV8R wrote: ↑Thu May 05, 2022 6:41 amMine went up $24, not sure what category increased. People don't care how much you know.
They want to know how much you care.

Oh no doubt, and it's largely why we bought the house we are in. But at this point the kids are gone and we're empty nesters in a 4 BR house we rattle around in. Once we finalize our plans re: staying or leaving Illinois, we will move on to a smaller home in a cheaper school district. I had no problems funding the schools when I had kids in them, but that is no longer the case. Someone who wants top notch public schools for their kids can have my house, and the tax burden that comes with it.RPlant wrote: ↑Thu May 05, 2022 8:13 amSchool District is probably the number 1, or a close number 2 selling point of a home.AV8R wrote: ↑Thu May 05, 2022 6:41 amMine went up $24, not sure what category increased. My kids are grown and gone also, so I understand about the schools. My son was grown when I moved in this house and I was lucky with my daughter as she attended Roosevelt Magnet School through 8th grade. She went to Woodruff High School when it was the only high school where she could participate in band, orchestra and chorus. If I had young kids now, this is not where I would want to be, but it is great for me at this point in life.
Above all, be kind!
