It's good to see a local business expand, especially to downtown Peoria, which has seen better days with CAT HQ moving out. But with OSF Ministries almost finished with their remodeling and moving into the old Block/Kuhl/Bergner's building, downtown along Adams may be on the upswing. Some OSF employees are already on the 2nd & 3rd floors, and work continues on the 1st floor and basement. An interesting note, is that some of the original tile flooring from Block & Kuhl was discovered, and now is being added to using the same type of flooring.
But Great Harvest Bread Company will be located next door to OSF, and will have a hallway/door connected to the lobby. It will not have a bakery, but will be more like a cafe with soups, sandwiches and more.. It will offer acai bowls, avocado toast and full espresso line from CXT Roasting Company. (There's more info on the link in WAP's newsfeed)
Across the street, however, the Adam's Street Cafe is closing, but a new owner will soon take over. The Pandemic unfortunately took its toll on this long-time cafe, closing it in March of 2020. The former owner did have an outdoor grill set-up for the workers at the OSF Building, though.
