PEORIA (WEEK) -- Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood has identified the person killed early Wednesday morning in Peoria.
Jerry L. Snipes, 17, and a senior at Manual High School, was pronounced dead at OSF at 5:16 a.m., despite aggressive resuscitative efforts.
In 2019 there were 25 homicides in Peoria, a number police say hadn’t been seen in decades. Wednesday’s shooting marks the 24th homicide of 2021. (WMBD)

UPDATE (Oct. 16, 8:07 a.m.) — A man is dead after being found in the passenger seat of a vehicle with apparent gunshot wounds Friday night.
Peoria Police Officers responded to the 600 block of W. Wilcox Ave. for a shot spotter alert with multiple calls of shots fired.
Officers then found the adult male inside the vehicle. They performed lifesaving measures until AMT arrived, and the victim was transported to a local hospital.
The victim was later pronounced deceased.
Police are still investigating the incident and at this time, there is no suspect information.

Has the police officially announced it is being investigated as a homicide? Unfortunately, suicides do occur.

PEORIA (WEEK) -- The Peoria County Coroner has identified the victim of a Friday night homicide - the River City's 25th of the year.
31-year-old Marteil D. Robinson of North Street, Peoria was pronounced deceased at 10:00 p.m. despite aggressive resuscitation attempts and treatment.
Officials say Robinson was unresponsive and not breathing when officers arrived, and was transported by ambulance to a local hospital in grave condition.
An investigation revealed Robinson suffered multiple gun shot wounds and likely died seconds following the incident.
