I saw signs last time I was out that coins were running low! I though it was business or bank specific but I now I see that it's nation wide.
BLACK LIVES MATTER
I saw where Kroger announced today that they will stop giving back change. You can round up to THEIR selected charity or get it put on your Kroger card. Of course, they won't round down. Next time I'm in, I'll help them with that change issue
Why do I feel some sort of ridiculous retort will occur in 3.........2........1...........

We ran a news package (from network) about the coin shortage this morning on WYZZ Good Day Central Illinois. Problem is similar in many industries: lack of workers due to the COVID shutdown in some areas. And with many folks not working, they weren't spending and using their change to pay for things. Here is a CBS story about it, but not the one we ran; still the same information.
F**k these insane trackers, this place is not a healthy debate of issues anymore, just a bunch of folks trying to outdo one another. Where is the cancel account button?
I guess I get that, but I also think it's a bunch of BS. Think about it. Except for 92 year old granny paying for her groceries, how many people do you actually see digging in their pocket for exact change, let alone change at all? I honestly say I see more people getting change back from handing over straight bills. So, what do they do with all the change they get back. Mine goes into a container, when that container gets full there is roughly $100 in it. I take it to CEFCU, have it counted, take my Benjie F and have a good day.

My wife tends to do the same, collect change, turn it in to CEFCU. I don't like or try to carry a bunch of change in my pocket, so when I pay cash, I'll try to use coins, get back even dollars. Only if I start running short on coins, that I pay and get change back.

I got lunch today at the Popeye's in East Peoria. The total was $7.58. They said they weren't giving back change, so I needed exact change or a card. I asked if they could keep the change since I already had $8 out and was hungry, The cashier said sure and off I went with my food.
I often keep 4 pennies in my wallet. That way I can get closer to the bill and get less change back. Change goes in a jar, so I know if I don't have exact change, more money is going out of the jar and I won't get to use it for quite awhile.
Above all, be kind!
CVS, Dollar General and the ACE Hardware store on McClure all gave me change back today. DG did have a sign up that there may be times they would not have change.
