I've got the music on my mind

Or music on a flash drive that remind me of various times. Mostly on road trips.

Ray Charles's "What I'd Say" was a song playing on WIRL 1290 am in 1989 on my car radio on the way to Chicago for a 3-day Video Production workshop on latest equipment and techniques.

AC/DC "Shoot to Thrill" reminds me of another trip probably to Chicago. The point in the song where there is an instrumental bridge with just bass guitar and drums happened to occur right as I entered the big curvy ramp in Noal from EB I-74 to NB I-55.

Styx's "Suite Madam Blue": Back in 1997, had local rock station, it was playing and it coincidentally ended as I exited off the ramp from I-64 EB near the IL border at IL Rt 1 near Grayville. (A client video project that involved multiple trips to document construction of an alternative sewer system for small communities) More to come.

I've had the Cars first album in rotation most of this week. Bye bye Love seemed fitting for some reason?

I have many of the Car's hit songs on my computer. This is not one of them. Interesting clip, especially with Ric Ocasek not singing the lead on this one. I didn't realize Benjamin Orr shared lead vocals on some of the songs, thought it was always Ocasek.

Thanks for the share.

For road trips I still use my trusty IPod. I have it loaded with close to 1,000 of my favorite songs. I have everything I like in it. Put it in shuffle and let it play. Classic Rock, Soul, Country, Motown, Jazz, Rythm and Blues, One-Hit Wonders. LOVE IT.
( music is a GREAT attitude adjuster )

I usually try to load about 6 or 7 CDs with of music at a time, then reload. The rock stations run like 7 minutes of commercials every 15 minutes or so.

My flash drive is particular on song meta data. I have to go in and change album or album artist in Explorer, otherwise multiple album names pop up.

Been listening to Bruce Springsteen, and one song he sings, "Pink Cadillac" is done in a style that reminds me of an old country song in the same style. Don't know the name of it, but that song reminds me of visits in the 60''s/early 70's to my Grandparents farm near Chester. My Dad's older brother and his family lived there too, to help with the farm.

I also have SIRIUS XM in my vehicle. There are some really good stations there. They play a lot less commercials than standard FM stations do. 🎸🎸🎸

We've had and enjoyed free previews of Sirius in our cars, even paid 6 months of it when we got our '13 Mailbu in '14. But the expense of it was too much for us at the time.

My wife likes listening to 106.9 FM Lite Mix, but they've already switched to Christmas music. (Already?) So she's going to get her Barry Manilow CDs and others together again. I don't have a CD player in my '17 Encore. .
