School name changes

What do folks here think of this idea? PPS Board Member Gregory Wilson has proposed this. 2 of the new names for schools are gentlemen that I had the opportunity to either meet or shoot videos of. Rev. CT Vivian and Bishop Harold Dawson, Jr. (I didn't know Dawson had passed)

Disclosure: I've known Greg for about a year or so, as he works as PR specialist at PCCEO, working in the office across the hall from what was my office. (And still vacant). We've collaborated on a couple of testimonial videos from scholarship recipients. Great guy, does excellent marketing for the agency.

Peoria Public Schools consistently rank near the bottom regardless of the name of the school. There are much better things this money could be spent on, and it will cost money to change the names. Signs need changing, gymnasium floors, websites, business cards, letterhead, etc. I have no idea what the total cost to change the name of six schools is but betting it's north of $500,000
How about some new books and technology?

I am good with the name changes. I hope the schools that make the name changes will take the opportunity to provide the school name history before the new name change as well as the history behind the new name every year.
