SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) — School will be different when a new academic year starts this fall, but whether students are still learning remotely or the number of days per week they attend class will likely vary by location and district.

The Illinois State Board of Education is expected to release health and safety guidelines by the end of June for districts trying to prepare for fall during the coronavirus pandemic. Some will be requirements, such as wearing masks or cleaning regimens for school facilities. But Illinois State Schools Superintendent Carmen Ayala says there won’t be a one-size-fits-all approach

I've heard from a very good source that children in Peoria Heights will likely have to wear masks in the fall. :(

a lot of conflicting info coming from GH and Metamora right now. Primarily because they are spitballing options and waiting for guidance from the state I believe. Got to be tough on everyone not knowing what the fall will bring for students.

An article appeared in the PJS about preliminary suggestions a round table group came up with for PPS. This was posted on FB by a few local news sources. WOW! the comments. Some people are NOT going to send their kids to school with or without masks. Some with only masks. Some want strictly online learning. Some want no online learning. Very few wanted the 2 day at school, 2.5 (half day Friday) at home schedule that the roundtable group suggested. Lots of child care issues. No matter what PPS does, it will be wrong.

My youngest starts kindergarten in the fall. I know this would be stressful for her. She hates the masks.

My Springfield daughter who teaches high school Spanish south of there has a special training seminar next Tuesday afternoon. I'm guessing it has to do with the issue of in-person attendance vs. online teaching. Wife is heading there to watch grandson, as his dad is back in the office that week at his job.
F**k these insane trackers, this place is not a healthy debate of issues anymore, just a bunch of folks trying to outdo one another. Where is the cancel account button?
