How I always remember 9/11

I have posted this every year, and this year will be no different. They say to "Never Forget", or "Always Remember". This is how I will follow those words.

I also wish to thank those who are members of We Are Peoria that served as first responders, whether it was military, police, fire, or medical. You are the reason we are free to live in this democracy. Yes, some days it doesn't feel like it, but take it from me, I salute you.

Thank you Dennis, as a member of two of this categories your words are appreciated more that you may realize. Too many people go through life taking for granted the freedoms they enjoy and just how tenuous they really are. Others find it easier to just belittle or outright denigrate people who have lived a life of service to the community simply because they disagree with them politically.

I make it a point to thank military and first responders in person when I cross paths with them. I’ve even bought a few meals since I’ve retired, as I was the recipient of a few over the years and I still remember how nice it was to know you are appreciated.

I am grateful for your service. I had a cousin that served in Vietnam, a couple of uncles that served in World War II, and my father in law served two years at a base in Germany during the Korean War.

While I appreciate it, I don't think those conflicts count in @AV8R 's book.

This is a General Chat category, RPlant, let's not get into the politics of it, or your continuing debates with AV8R. Thank you.
