Covid hospitalizations

From today’s Peoria Journal Star:
“Even on a national level, the distinction is not always being made between people who are being hospitalized for COVID-19 and people who are being hospitalized for other conditions who happen to also test positive for COVID-19.
OSF is routinely testing everyone who is admitted to its hospitals, and some of those patients are learning they are COVID-19 positive while being admitted for other serious health conditions, said Kasper.
OSF HealthCare media relations supervisor Shelli Dankoff confirmed their report does not distinguish between people who came to the hospital for COVID symptoms or for non-related reasons — only that they are hospitalized and have tested positive for COVID-19.”

Hmm, I wonder why they would report COVID case this way?

They either decided to change the way they report hospitalizations, or hospitalizations for covid are actually declining:
The best news is Peoria County has not seen a covid death in 9 days.

Not really. Those codes are for positive test vs. positive symptomology. The original post is about people being hospitalized BECAUSE of COVID vs. those hospitalized WITH COVID. You do see the difference and why it skews the hospitalization numbers, right?

So an admitted patient who tests positive for Covid isn't supposed to isolated in the Covid ward to make the numbers look better for who?

I think you're missing the point. When discerning people look at COVID data, we want to know not only the number of cases, but also the severity of those cases. The severity can be determined by deaths and numbers of hospitalized patients. If the number of hospitalized patients is skewed upwards by counting those hospitalized for other conditions but that happen to be COVID positive, it makes the situation look more severe than it really is. This makes people fearful. It also puts more money in the pockets of big pharma and the big hospital systems. It also gets used by politicians and bureaucrats to grab more power for themselves. I know you probably already knew all of this, but can't bring yourself to admit it.

It doesn't matter what you went to the hospital for, if you have COVID, you have COVID. Sheeeessshhh., it is the world's biggest problem right now. If you go to the hospital for a broken bone, sinus infection, dog bite or whatever and you test positive for COVID you should be FAR more concerned with the positive COVID test. Why would anyone try to downplay it?
