And first on Mayor Ali’s watch.

PEORIA, Ill. (WEEK) -- Peoria Police are investigating the city's seventh homicide of the year.

Peoria Police Spokeswoman Amy Dotson says two shotspotter alerts of multiple rounds fired came in at the MacArthur Shell in the 200 block of North MacArthur Highway around 11:30 PM.

Dotson adds preliminary information indicates there was an altercation at the gas pumps, and shots were fired.

Officers were later told a gunshot victim, an adult male, arrived by private vehicle at a local hospital.

He was later pronounced dead. His identity and cause of death will be released by the Coroner following an autopsy.

There is no suspect information at this time, and the incident is under investigation.

If you have any information regarding the incident, or camera footage you believe may be important to the investigation, call the Peoria Police Department at 309-673-4521, or Crimestoppers anonymously at 309-673-9000.

Oh good grief, Mayor Ali hasn't even presided over her first full council meeting, and you're blaming her for this??

So you're going to keep track of every homicide during her term, when no one did the same (since social media began) with
the homicides under Jim Ardis?

This murder was just like soo many over the years. A dispute over something ridiculous that folks can only resolve these days with a gun.

Yes, I have been keeping track of the homicides in Peoria. Crime is the #1 reason people cite for moving out of the city. It increased during Ardis’ tenure.
And no, I’m not blaming Mayor Ali for this murder. Just hoping that she has a plan to end the violence, especially since the first homicide since her swearing in occurred in her neighborhood.

Better check her address, she actually lives in the 5th District.

Looks like we’re both wrong. She lives near Charter Oak Park. Not exactly the poor side of town.
Regardless, I hope she has a plan to end the senseless deaths from lead poisoning in all areas of Peoria.

The suspects for this homicide have been arrested.

But of course, Mayor Ali shouldn't get any credit, just as it shouldn't be counted as being 'under her watch'.

Credit where credit is due:
Good job, Peoria Police Department! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

Having said that, everything about this case is awful: a man died a horrible death at the hands of teenagers. All of Peoria deserve better. What’s the plan to keep this from happening again?

I wouldn't exactly call them little shits, they are cold blooded killers. Eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth.

And I totally agree that we need a plan to stop this ridiculous mayhem that goes on far too often.

Cold blooded killers are not shits? Or are you just arguing because I am the one who said it?
