Unconfirmed report of homicide #23 in Peoria this morning.
(1200 block of N. Ellis)
I just need to know if this has been confirmed by WMBD.
Not sure why you need confirmation from WMBD other than to find a way to criticize them. But here are other sources as well: (Toldyouso posted her reply just as I was writing this one, BTW)

https://wmbdradio.com/2023/10/16/ppd-in ... in-peoria/
https://www.centralillinoisproud.com/ne ... -homicide/
All 3 received the same press release from the police department, hence almost exactly same wording.

Because there have been a few times in the past where you didn't believe a news story was true unless WMBD had reported it. At the time of her post, nothing was reported yet.

Bad joke, IMO.
Ok. I was talking about her 2nd post, not the first.
But no matter my thoughts, I'm sure you'd still find a way to brand this Fear Mongering as well.

What? No. I was mocking the fact that you don't believe other people's stories unless confirmed by your employer. Just like the WTVP thing and past homicides.

No details yet, but apparently Peoria’s 24th homicide of the year:
Gunshot victim found deceased in a vehicle in the parking lot of Springhill Suites on Lake. Coroner called to the scene.
The email WMBD received from the coroner said it was not a homicide, but a suicide. Still a sad situation for the family. Thoughts and prayers.

Thanks, @DennisinPeoria for the correction.
I will delete my post.
I agree that it is still a very sad situation.

PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD) — A man was fatally shot over the weekend, the Peoria Police Department announced on Monday.
According to Semone Roth, officers were called to an area hospital at 10:15 a.m. on a report of a man who had been driven there by private vehicle. He suffered multiple gunshot wounds and died a short time later.
Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood said Torlando J. Smith, 40, died after suffering multiple gunshot wounds. That caused injuries that were inconsistent with life, Harwood said.
Officers learned through their investigation that the shooting occurred in the 100 block of South McReynolds who is about a block from the Gwynn Family Aquatic Center. On McReynolds, officers and detectives found evidence that indicated the shooting occurred inside of a residence there.
Harwood said Smith was pronounced dead at 10:38 a.m. at OSF Healthcare Saint Francis Medical Center’s trauma room.
There is currently no suspect information. This incident is under investigation.
If the shooting is determined to be a homicide, it would be the city’s 24th of the year, according to the Peoria Police Department.

I believe there were 24 total last year. I guess Rita won't be able to claim that murders are decreasing now.
