While I disagree with the Chicago Mayor on where she thinks the guns are coming from, that question must be asked: where are they coming from? Felons can't buy them. Strict measures are in place how guns are sold.

Has a anyone done a study or research on how many homicides or shootings are done with stolen guns? How often is a stolen gun reported? If the owner is CCW and FOID certified, there should be no issue. But if someone is not, are they reporting it?

I've seen reports where a gun used in a shooting has had the ID number scaled or sanded off, making it hard to track.

The guns coming into Chicago are coming from somewhere. Or there are gun dealers looking the other way and accepting cash under the table with no registration.

A federal felony in and of itself. Most guns have the serial number stamped into the metal, which ATF has a way of recovering even in the event it is ground off. Not 100% guaranteed, but it works more often than not.

Possible I suppose, but if that were the case why go to Indiana? When a gun goes to an FFL from a firearms manufacturer, there is a record of that available to ATF. If dealers were selling new guns "under the table" it would be pretty easy to figure out. There are laws against selling handguns to out of state residents, straw man purchases, under the table sales by an FFL, destruction of serial numbers, and the list goes on. If these laws were strictly enforced with prison time, that would go a long way to solving the problems. But they aren't. Politicians don't want to end gun crimes, they want to end gun ownership. That becomes exponentially more difficult if gun crimes drop.

Chicago shootings soar over the long holiday weekend: 22 dead, 90 wounded, with 13 children among the wounded. ZERO shot/killed by police.

So,...I'll ask again. WHAT should and could be done to STOP the killings and violence that is going on???
What can a police officer, police captain, Mayor, polititians do differently than their predecessors to curb, or better yet stop killings and violence? It is easy to point fingers and blame, but what can seriously be done? I have my own opinion and usually get lambasted for it. But I truly believe better gun control. Now as I say that I doubt it would have an immediate impact, but we need to start somewhere. And, YES there should be a limit to the number of guns a person should own AND, the power and performance of said guns.

Should there be a limit to the number of words a person can say? How about a limit to how much property a person has a right to be secure from unreasonable search and siezure?

Where do you stop limiting Constitutional Rights?
