Its fortunate that many homicides have been solved, sometimes within a week.

One mayor is not going to be able to stop a homicide, let alone a cop. (BTW, Ali was elected just 2 years ago to an at large seat)

The environment of folks being angry, and using guns to solve disputes (in some cases turf wars), is one that has been going on for decades. I remember doing CAPtions show on gun violence and homicides in the early 90's.

Knowing how she is, it's very possible that Mayor Ali is consulting with others to find ideas that address this. The double homicide just happened a couple days ago.
So, short answer is…no, Mayor Ali has not publicly acknowledged this unprecedented killing spree.

And now this:

https://week.com/2021/06/04/peoria-poli ... ty-center/
UPDATE (2 a.m.) - Peoria Police said a shootout occurred Friday night at East Bluff Community Center when a group was denied entry into a private party.

In a news release, police said the community center at 512 East Kansas Street had reached capacity. Police said someone from the group who had been turned away forced open the door, and fired rounds into the building. A person inside returned fire, police said.

Available officers citywide responded to the scene to search for victims and suspects, while medics set up a staging area to treat those who may have been wounded. However, police said they did not find any victims, and apparently no one was taken to the hospital by private vehicle.

People with information or those who might have video of what happened are asked to contact Peoria Police at 309-673-4521. The CrimeStoppers organization is accepting anonymous tips at 309-673-9000.

PEORIA (WEEK) - Gunfire erupted Friday night at East Bluff Community Center in Peoria, but police said it appeared no one was wounded and information about any suspects was not available.

Witnesses told 25 News there was a graduation party at the community center when the shooting happened shortly before 10 p.m.

East Bluff Community Center is located at New York Avenue and Kansas Streets.

A 25 News crew saw a bullet casing in front of the building, and there was a pile of clothes near the casing.

Peoria Police said they plan to issue a statement Saturday about what happened.

And you expected Mayor Ali to stop this shooting from happening how?
F**k these insane trackers, this place is not a healthy debate of issues anymore, just a bunch of folks trying to outdo one another. Where is the cancel account button?

Did I say that I expected her to stop the shooting? Do you think that I believe she is clairvoyant? This is just one of many news stories that we have seen and will continue to see showing an increase in violent crime during the Ali administration.

Has Mayor Ali made ANY public statements about ANY of the shootings in the last 6 weeks?

#1. She still is working full time at ICC until retiring at end of June, thus only being PT as Mayor for now.

#2 Maybe she's being thorough by consulting with staff, other council members, and police to decide on a statement or plan that has all their support, instead of saying something off the hoof and stupid like the Chicago Mayor does sometimes.

Again…
Short answer is NO, she has not made any public statements denouncing the violence. Somehow she had time to speak at a ticketed event at Dozer Park, though.
