I don’t have mid-year stats, but I found this:

2022 ended with 24 total homicides, compared to 33 the year before.

I believe it is somewhat lower than previous 2 years. But doesn't matter, 1 homicide is still one too many. Especially if some are because of an argument that gets out of hand, when one person can only resolve it with a gun. Just glad the suspect is already arrested.

In two years, there have been about 60 murders under Rita.

I count 242 under 16 years of Ardis.

If Rita was mayor for 16 years, at this pace, that's 480 murders. Almost exactly double that of Ardis.

You know ammo prices are up when the knives come out. Homicides continue on. The first one used a rock as the murder weapon.

Neither Rita Ali or Jim Ardis was responsible for any of those murders. Not one!

BTW - 484 is (exactly) double 242.

The guy arrested for his murder was previously found not guilty of another murder:

UPDATE WEDNESDAY 9:40 A.M. - Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood says the 17-year-old teen has died earlier Wednesday morning.

Autopsy is scheduled for later Wednesday.

UPDATE 9:40 P.M. - A teenager suffered life-threatening injuries from a shooting in Peoria’s East Bluff Tuesday night, Peoria Police said from the crime scene.

Police were called at about 7:50 p.m. to the corner of North Wisconsin Avenue and East Kansas Street after a ShotSpotter alert indicated four rounds were fired.

Police did not have suspect information.
****
I believe this is the 14th Peoria homicide of the year, and there are reports of another person with life threatening gunshot wounds this morning.

Good grief! Peoria’s 15th homicide of the year…
Death Investigation
Peoria County Case# PE-23-2156
Peoria, IL

On 08/22/2023, at 4:16 am, Peoria Police, Fire, and EMS responded to the 2300 block of N. Wisconsin Ave., Peoria, for an unconscious, unresponsive female.

On arrival, Police and EMS found the female, 36-year-old Vanessa Tucker, without a pulse and not breathing. Resuscitation measures were initiated, and she was transported to OSF Healthcare Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria in grave condition. Despite aggressive resuscitative efforts, Tucker was unfortunately pronounced dead at 5:33 a.m.

An autopsy on Tucker demonstrated that she suffered asphyxiation due to suffocation. This case is being investigated as a homicide and remains under investigation by the Peoria Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division (CID).
