Somehow I get the impression that Mayor Ali was expected to stop a a baby from injesting those pills,
or expected to know about the El Vista domestic situation and should have stopped that homicide and shooting of the neighbor?

Nope. You'd be wrong.

She still hasn't done anything to stop the gang and youth crime. She doesn't care. She just wants the Amtrak route. She wants that to be her legacy.

Nope.
It’s the culture that needs changing, but Mayor Ali doesn’t want to address that.
Would you leave fentanyl-laced drugs in your grandchild’s crib? Of course not! But, apparently some people need to be told not to do that.
How do we reverse this complete lack of respect for the lives of others?

Gotta change the culture. You can’t respect others if you don’t respect yourself. Glorification of criminal activity and prison sentences, objectification of women, no parental responsibility, all these things and more need to change before it will improve.

Peoria’s 12th homicide of the year:

Homicide Arrest (**UPDATE BELOW**)
PPD Incident #24-18510

Previously Reported:
(PEORIA, IL) Friday, August 30, 2024, at approximately 2:32 a.m. Peoria Police were dispatched to the 500 block of Main Street on a report of a person shot.
When officers arrived, they located an adult male victim (45 years old) down with an apparent gunshot wound. The victim was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Members of the Peoria Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division (CID), Special Investigations Division (SID), Crime Scene Unit (CSU), and Patrol Unit responded to the scene and initiated an investigation.
There is currently no suspect information. This incident is under investigation.

UPDATE: 8/30/24
At approximately 11:52 a.m. on August 30, 2024, the victim was pronounced deceased at a local hospital.
The identity and cause of death will be released by the Peoria County Coroner.
During the course of this investigation, police identified 40-year-old Lacorlis T. Edwards as a suspect in this case.
At approximately 4:50 p.m. Edwards turned himself in to police and was subsequently arrested for First Degree Murder and Unlawful Possession of a Weapon by a Felon.
Edwards was transported to the Peoria County Jail.
This incident remains under investigation.

Peoria’s 13th homicide of the year:

UPDATED (9:30 p.m.) — One person is dead and another was seriously injured in a shooting that occurred just before 8:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Semone Roth of the Peoria Police Department said officers went to the intersection of South MacArthur and West Johnson Street on a report of six rounds fired. The alert came from the ShotSpotter gunfire detection system.

When officers arrived, they found two men who had been shot.

One was dead. The other suffered what Roth termed as life-threatening injuries. He was immediately taken to an area hospital.

“At this time, police are on scene conducting an investigation. There is currently no suspect information.

2 days later, Peoria’s 14th homicide of the year:

PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD) — A 20-year-old woman is dead after a shooting that occurred near Griswold and Latrobe Streets on Friday.

According to Peoria police spokeswoman Semone Roth, officers responded to the area after receiving a report of a person being shot at 10:41 p.m.

When officers arrived, they located the woman with an apparent gunshot wound. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officers talked to Nathaniel Archuleta, 18, on the scene, and transported him to be interviewed at the police station. After being questioned, he was arrested for involuntary manslaughter, reckless discharge of a firearm, possession of a handgun under the age of 21, and not having a FOID.

He was transported to the Peoria County Jail. This incident remains under investigation.

Make it 3 this week. Peoria’s 15 homicide of the year:

PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD) — A second man is dead after a shooting in Peoria on Wednesday.

According to the Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood, 31-year-old Jamarcus F. Walker, of Port Gibson, Mississippi, was pronounced brain dead at 4:09 p.m. on Friday.

Walker was shot near the intersection of South MacArthur Highway and West Johnson Street and was transported to the hospital with critical injuries.

An autopsy will be performed following organ procurement, according to Harwood.

Dennis Harris was also shot during this incident and died on the scene.
