Getting back to the true topic:

Another positive is that no taxpayer money from across the river from Peoria County was used to fund this.

Disclosure: I was involved with this story. But I'd post it even if I wasn't.

The Neighborhood House doesn't get any state grant money? You sure about that?

Neighborhood House did not receive any state grant money FOR THIS particular project. The football turf was donated from a football field near St..Louis being torn down.

As far as Neighborhood House receiving federal or state tax dollars for their Senior, Adult, and Youth programs, you'd have to look at their website to maybe find those answers.

Who pays the salary of the CEO who's been working on this over a year?

A combination of first responders and local residents worked together to save a 5-year-old child from an apartment fire.

Do you remember Paul Harvey’s “The Rest of the Story”?
Well, I posted above about the apartment fire in West Peoria, where a man was able to safely drop his daughter from a third floor window into a sheet held by police and residents on the scene. You may have also heard that the girl’s father is the nephew of Charles Martin, who runs Porch Pantry Peoria with his wife, Kelli. That food pantry, literally on their front porch, is open daily to serve people in one of the poorest areas of Peoria. Kelli just posted this on Facebook:

I feel so blessed and humbled today. ❤
A man came and knocked on our door. He was a neighbor of our nephew's and wanted to check on him. I had him sit on the Porch while I grabbed my phone and called to see where he might be. As we waited for Nephew to come the guy said " i bet you don't recognize me. I used to come here. For a couple of years I was homeless and struggling with addiction. You fed me. You clothed me. You kept me from freezing to death outside in the winter. I decided to change my life." And while my mind was reeling from that......how small this world is, how the good people put in the world comes back, ...... Charles said he said he helped hold the sheet that our sweet little niece was caught in. 😭😭

Y'all.....I see it very clearly. ....he was saved for that moment. To be a strong, clean and sober clear thinking man that could help save a little girl's life.

YOU saved his life. And he helped save a little girl. YOU fed him, YOU clothed him, YOU kept him warm. YOU helped him live to see another day. He changed his life. And in a moment where he was needed he stepped up to help save a girl's life.

Thank YOU for helping him, for saving him so he could help her and save her.

If you don’t see the hand of God in that story, you are spiritually blind.

MISSING The POINT

(Chrome not letting me add GIF using phone)

If a crime has been committed, that's STILL NOT positive News. Even if no one died or got shot. Someone still violated the law. This city gets enough of this kind of stories in other media and internet posts; we certainly don't need it here.

And the Juneteenth festivals in Peoria have never had any problems since they were started. So yes, that could be a positive.
