Another Peoria homicide. A 14-year-old (!) is the suspected killer. The murder weapon was a brick.

I sincerely hope the mayor’s new program will determine what is causing middle school-aged children to become murderers. We can’t blame guns this time.

We interviewed someone related to a homicide victim last week. It is her opinion that perhaps 90% of disputes arise from social media messaging and texting. She's not aware of any big gang wars going on, but small groups of juveniles like to "claim" to be in a gang, but not really. She also said disputes arise from issues with boyfriends, girlfriends, or ex-bf, ex-gf. Or simply disrespect that adults, young adults and juveniles can't resolve without getting a gun and shooting someone.

When someone gets agitated, and decides to shoot someone, there's no way the police, government officials, or anti-violence groups can predict it or stop it. It's the community and the neighborhood that knows something is about to happen,.and needs to stop it.

The latest murder victim was just 14 years old. The suspect (who has been arrested) is 23 years old. I highly doubt this was a boyfriend/girlfriend issue. Disrespect? Maybe. But isn’t that an issue that can (and should) be addressed?
Both the victim and the (alleged) murderer are African-American. What’s going on in that community that leads to such disrespect for life? You said “there's no way the police, government officials, or anti-violence groups can predict it or stop it.” Do we just throw up our hands and order more body bags?

In other words, he's saying Rita has no responsibility.

Saying that Rita Ali has no responsibility is just being ridiculous. I'm sure that she feels remorse, regret, empathy, and a multitude of other feelings. She isn't directly responsible and you know that. This matter isn't like flipping a switch on or off. Every city the size of Peoria and bigger faces this problem. Stop blaming the Mayor for something this drastic. You are consumed with negative news, move away if it really bothers you that much. At least move away from your electronic devices.
People don't care how much you know.
They want to know how much you care.
