That data is interesting and seems pretty confined. Contrary to some on this forum, the whole City isn't a war zone. Who would have thought!?!

Do you? If you are not part of the solution, you are part of the problem.
My suggestions:
1. Hire more police officers, and pay them better.
2. Put at least 75% of the available assets in the problem areas of the city. Profiling works. These murders aren’t being committed by blonde, blue-eyed cheerleaders from Dunlap.
3. @Tazewell nailed it. Mayor Ali doesn’t just have the ability to reach out to young Black men (and boys), she has the responsibility to do so.
4. If you fail to do the above, at least save the taxpayers some money by getting body bags at a volume discount.
1) And pay them how? Peorians continue to demonstrate their resistance to taxation.

2) See item #1. 75% of not enough is still not enough. Seriously, you don't think Peoria PD isn't already deploying resources to those areas?

3) So you and @Tazewell have the Rita Ali version of Rush's song.

4) So basically you've thrown your hands up as long "they" don't come into your neighborhood.

None of us said the whole city is a war zone. Another strawman.

“ 1) And pay them how? Peorians continue to demonstrate their resistance to taxation.”

Peorians are already over-taxed. Past Mayors and city councils have pissed away tax dollars on “wonderful developments” and other magic beans. Time for Mayor Ali to call for an end to that, and put tax dollars to work protecting Peorians instead.

So Mayor Ali is supposed to clean up the mess that the previous mayors left behind. That sounds kind of familiar actually.

1. Didn't the city council put out a request from citizens on how to spend all the Pandemic relief money? Seems to me more police officers would be number one. But what happens when that allocation runs out?

2. There are many community programs and organizations that are doing their best to keep youth and young people on the straight path. But, they don't always get the publicity about how many have gone on to have productive lives. Unfortunately, homicides and gun shootings get front page or top headlines.
But I still contend, that if these programs didn't exist, the homicide rate and gun shootings would be far worse than they are now. Let me be clear, the current state of violence is unacceptable.
F**k these insane trackers, this place is not a healthy debate of issues anymore, just a bunch of folks trying to outdo one another. Where is the cancel account button?

Are they? Really. That's your feeling, but how about a metric showing that. Last I saw Peoria was one of the top cities to live in economically. Maybe that is the real strawman!?!

Do you have a link to that? A quick Google search yielded several sites that list the best cities, the most economical cities, etc in Illinois for 2021 and Peoria was not on any of those lists.
