If you haven’t dined in recently, be prepared for some changes at your old favorites. Nearly every establishment has been affected by the current labor shortage. You can argue why over in the Politics section. Here, I want to make a plea on behalf of all restaurant workers: be patient, and be kind. It’s not your server’s fault that he/she is the only server. It’s not your server’s fault that the cook is new. It’s not the new hostess’s fault that she doesn’t know which is your preferred table. It’s not the new cook’s fault that your favorite dish tastes “different”. The workers who did show up are trying their best.
Be kind, be patient, and tip generously.
